Persistent Links/Permalinks: JSTOR

How to create a stable link from library resources

Permalinks in JSTOR

Finding the Permalink in JSTOR

JSTOR and all JSTOR databases use the "Stable URL" terminology to label their permalinks.

1. To find the Stable URL, look under the author's name and DOI.

Result from JSTOR. Lists article title, journal and page number, author's name, the DOI, and then underneath that, it provides the STABLE URL. There is text and an arrow that says This Stable URL is the permalink.

Creating a Proxied Permalink in JSTOR

If you want Valdosta State University students, staff, or faculty to access this link no matter if they are on campus or off campus, you will need to create a proxied permalink.

1. Add the proxy prefix (in orange) in front of the JSTOR provided Stable URL or use the OpenAthens Link Generator

  • If using the OpenAthens Link Generator, paste your Stable URL (https://www.jstor.org/stable/865525) into the Target link field
