Downloading Items from Gale Virtual Reference Library

Gale Virtual Reference Library Access

  • Entire books are not available for download on Gale Virtual Reference Library 
  • Chapter, articles or sections or entries may be downloaded
  • All chapters, articles, sections, or entries are presented in a text format. 
    • To view chapters, articles, sections, or entries in the e-book format, Adobe Flash Player is required. 


Download Instructions


  • Under Tools, click Download. 


Entry from Gale Virtual Reference - On the right, under Tools, click Download to open the download dialog window


  • In the Download dialog box, select your preferred format. 
    • You can then save the PDF or HTML file on your personal computer.
    • If you are accessing the Virtual Reference Library from your e-reader or a tablet (e.g. iPad®, Kindle Fire®), you can use Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive or other third party reader apps to download and open the PDF file.

Print and E-mail

  • Print and e-mail available for most articles. 

To Print 

  • Under Tools, select Print. 
    • Will print HTML version of the document. 
      • If you prefer a printed copy with page numbers, download the PDF. 

To E-mail 

  • Under Tools, select E-mail. 
    • Gives option of sending the article as a citation, the full text, or as a PDF attachment.
