Most of Odum Library's Ebook Central e-books can be viewed and read by only one user at a time. When viewing an ebrary e-book, a percentage of the e-book can be either copied or printed.   A few of the Ebook Central e-books are unlimited users and these e-books can be downloaded in their entirety.

Placing a Hold on an eBook

If a book is currently in use and can only be read by one user at a time, eBook Central allows users to join a queue and be notified when a book has been returned and can be read.

Placing a Hold

1. If a book is listed as "In Use" under the Availability section, you will see a hyperlink that reads "Place Hold".

Record for the book Don't Call it a Cult by Sarah Berman with the Availability seciton highlighted.

2.Click "Place Hold". If you have already entered a Wait List email address in your profile where you would like to receive the email notification when your book is ready, you can click "Place Hold" from the popup window.

If you have not added your email, you will be prompted to do so. Click the link to your profile in the popup box and add the email address you would like to be notified at to the Wait List email address field. Agree to the ProQuest Privacy Policy and Terms of Service then click "Save Changes" at the bottom. A confirmation email will be sent to the email entered. You will have to confirm the email address before you can place a hold on an ebook.

3. When the book is returned, you will be sent an email. After you receive the email, you will have 24 hours to access or download the ebook before the book is no longer held for you. After the 24 hours, it will go to the next person on the Wait List, or, if there is no one waiting for the book, it will be available for anyone to access.
