Children's Books in the Library

Parenting is Hard

Parenting is a difficult part of many people's lives outside of college, but parenting while taking classes can prove more difficult than normal. Not only are there time constraints and financial decisions to make, but you may not be able to do as much socializing as your classmates.

Many parenting students find it helpful to

  • cultivate a strong support network of people who can watch children or help with other necessities
  • find student organizations that do not mind if they bring children to events
  • speak to professors when they need more support such as an extension
  • investigate financial help: is there anyone who can help you shoulder the costs of child rearing such as a charity?
  • learn and practice good time management skills such as keeping a bullet journal or day planner
  • maintain good mental and physical health practices such as seeing counselors, setting up doctor appointments, and making sure your food is healthy

Resources and Campus Programs

Below is a gallery of books about parenting that may help students navigate parenting. The library also has children's books, puppets, and teaching toy kits for checkout. Books and teaching toys are shelved on the 3rd floor on the other side of the atrium while puppets are held at the 1st floor circulation desk.
