Map Resources at Odum Library: Home

This Libguide describes the map collection at Odum Library and ways to access it.

Map Locations

Much of Odum Library's maps collection is located on the first floor of the library, in large map cabinets in the southwest corner of the north side of Odum Library.  These maps are arranged by

  • Sudoc number for federal government maps
  • State name and then alphabetically by location for state maps. Odum Library has state maps for Georgia and contiguous states: Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
  • Additional maps and related materials are located by Library of Congress classification in the cabinets at the end of the cabinet area.

Atlases are located in the second-floor Reference area on the west side of the south side of Odum Library. One side of the atlas shelves is arranged according to Sudoc number, and the other side by Library of Congress classification number.

Additional federal maps are located with the Government Documents collection, also in the second-floor Reference area. Federal maps are part of the Federal Depository Library Program and are open to use by the general public as well as students and employees of Valdosta State University.
