How to use the ScanPro 3000

ScanPro 3000 Microfilm Scanners are located on the first floor of Odum Library.

Moving Forward and Rewinding

  • To move slowly forwards or backwards, use the slider bar under the image.

  • To fast-forward or rewind quickly, gently pull the scanner forward until the glass pane pops open.

Adjust Tools


Use the tools under the Adjust tab to adjust the image, make it more visible, and select the area to scan.


  • Brightness and Contrast - manually change the brightness and contrast of the image by using the up or down arrow.
  • Manual Straighten - manually move the image using the minus and plus icon to turn the image slightly and straighten it.
  • Line Straighten - straighten the document by clicking on any two points on a straight line.
  • Auto-Straighten - automatically straighten the document for better reading.
  • Auto-Crop - automatically crops the image on the screen.
  • Auto-Adjust - automatically adjusts the brightness and contrast, plus straightens and crops the image.
  • Zoom - magnifies the image. Auto-zoom by clicking A-Z on the icon. Use the up and down arrow to manually zoom in or out.
  • Focus - helps focus the image for better viewing. Click AF to auto-focus, or manually focus by using the up or down arrow. 
  • Film Type - switches the film type from positive to negative.
  • Film Orientation - change the orientation to landscape or portrait.
  • Rotate 90º - rotates the image 90º to the left or right.
  • Mirror - reverses the image.

 

 

 

Crop

Click inside of the green box on the image. You can drag it to the area you want it and resize the box by clicking and dragging the squares on the edges of the green box. The area in the square will be what is scanned and saved.
