Plagiarism and cheating are forms of academic misconduct. The best way to avoid academic misconduct is to know what it is and guard against behaviors that may be suspicious. Valdosta State University has published outlines of what it considers academic honesty violations and the procedures faculty follow to report them.

Turnitin is a plaigarism detection and prevention software. Students submit their work and it is compared to a very large database of sources. The software detects the unoriginal content and generates an originality report.
