Thesaurus and Indexes

You can access the ERIC Thesaurus and Indexes in the blue ribbon at the top of the page. 

 

Thesaurus 

 

You can search and explore the Thesaurus for ERIC descriptors. ERIC descriptors are the equivalent of Subjects used in other EBSCOhost databases.  These descriptors can be added to a search.

 

Why You Might Search the Thesaurus

 

  • Having difficulty identifying keywords for your topic. 
  • ERIC search results are not relevant - an additional way to refine your search results. 

 

 

Indexes

 

Use Indexes to explore the possible ways to refine your search results. An Index results can be added to a new search in ERIC. 

 

For example, by browsing the Institution and Sponsoring Agency index, you can add specific institutions or agencies to an ERIC search.
