Scholarly Article Visual Characteristics

 

  • Has abstract on first page. 
  • Has list of references on the last page. 
  • Article is almost entirely text. 

 

Trade Article Visual Characteristics

 

  • Has glossy photographs. 
  • Less text than scholarly article. 
  • Does not include list of references on last page. 
  • Last page provides biographical information about the author that supports the publication's audience, professionals in the parks and recreation industry. 

 

Popular Article Visual Characteristics 

 

  • Has glossy photographs. 
  • Less text than scholarly article. 
  • Does not include list of references on last page. 
  • No information provided about the author except name. 
  • Catchy title.
