Literature Reviews

This guide provides information to help you prepare to write a literature review.

Analyzing Your Sources

When you analyze sources for your literature review, think about the following for each source:

  • What is the research question(s)?
  • What are the research methods used?
  • Were there any limitations in the study?
  • What were the results?
  • Are there any suggestions for future studies mentioned?
  • Are there any biases that you can identify?
  • Who is the author and what is their background?
  • Are there any other studies that conflict with the results? Are there any that align with them?
  • How does this source fit in with your topic?

Check out the Evaluating your Sources guide for additional help with analyzing your sources.
